Piñatex is made from the leaves of the pineapple plant, the byproduct of the fruit industry, which are traditionally discarded or burned.
Adding value to this waste has created a new source of income for farming communities who otherwise rely on a seasonal harvest. Once the fibre has been stripped from the leaf the leftover biomass is retained to use as a natural fertiliser or biofuel, offering a further economic prospect. To maintain your Piñatex bag, we recommend regular waxing to maintain its features with a natural wax. Marks can be cleaned with water, using a damp soft cloth or sponge. Piñatex® is water resistant, not waterproof.
To keep Piñatex waterproof we recommend regular application of a waterproofing spray.
Our Vegan Leather
Our Vegan leather is made from water based PU (Polyurethane Surface). Our material uses efficient manufacturing processes, based on conservation of raw materials, toxic-free solutions, and with minimal dependency on natural resources. Over 99% of solvents recaptured and recycled during production process. Made without any hazardous VOCs.With no toxic by-products and of course no PVC (Polyvinyl Chloride). All their packaging is made from post-consumer recycled materials and is FSC® certified.
To care for your material the best way possible make sure to store it away from direct sunlight, wipe up spills as soon as they occur. Clean with a damp cloth with soap or alcohol based cleaners and Air dry.
Diniamica is used mostly in our linings. Its production process is similar to that used for paper recycling, in which no harmful chemical substances are used. The recycled polyester contained in Dinamica® derives from polyester fibres (T-shirts, fibres, etc.) and PET (bottles, plastic, etc.). Recycling polyester means reducing energy consumption and CO2 emissions into the atmosphere by 80% compared to the traditional petrol-based polyester production process. The use of neutral, non-toxic dyes and recycled polyester is a further guarantee of the natural approach adopted. The lowest levels of polluting emissions and energy consumption are guaranteed throughout the whole production cycle. To maintain your Dinamica Lining try to avoid contact with liquids. You can also use a waterproof spray to protect it. To remove stains use a clean damp cloth and softly pat it (do not rub!).
We will always strive to keep improving every season and use as less virgin plastic based materials as we possibly can. We are always on the look out for the newest developments on sustainable leather alternatives and we are lucky that there are so many new innovations in this field. We aim to progress and learn with every season and as proud as we are of everything we have achieved so far we still have challenges we need to find solutions for.
