Our focus with Mashu is to tread on our planet as lightly as possible, and to keep developing the ways that we can better what we do.
Our mission statement is: To make unique, vegan, high quality accessories with respect to our planet and its inhabitants (humans & animals).This is something we work on everyday, from small day-to-day decisions in the office, to the bigger steps we take as a company. We also don’t want to mark our own homework in terms of our progress. That’s why we use third party verification platform Renoon, to validate our claims and provide clear supply chain and product transparency to our customers. On each product page, you are able to see the product journey, the suppliers, the materials, the components and a carbon calculation of how much each bag has emitted and saved.
Water and Chemical usage
We focus on using materials that address issues in our industry and create innovative materials made from plants. The majority of our materials are made from agricultural waste, utilising waste to create something new. By selecting vegan innovative materials it means less usage on water and land than conventional leathers, especially taking into account the amount of land and water usage needed for cattle. In order to work with a suppliers they need to have certifications to prove they are compliant with their countries rules about chemical use. We look out for certifications like GRS (global recycling standard), GOTS and ISO which all our suppliers can provide us. Where possible we also work with deadstock fabrics such as our deadstock satin bags.

Our Packaging
All our packaging is plastic free,
Our boxes are made from FSC certified materials and 60% recycled content. They are produced in the EU. Our tissue paper is from the same company and also FSC certified, using soy based inks and toxic free solutions.All packaging can be recycled after use.
Our Packaging tapes are paper based with water activated glue that is vegan and water based.
Our dustbags are made from OEKO tex cotton and made in the EU.
All of our packaging can be recycled after use.
